Atascosa County Jail Roster

The Atascosa County jail roster is a public resource that lists individuals currently held in the county jail in Texas. AtascosaCourt.us can help you find publicly available information about current and recent inmates. You can also access jail roster information through the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office website, by calling the jail's booking line, or by visiting the facility in person. A jail roster search allows the public to look up who is in custody, view charges, and confirm booking details. The Atascosa County Sheriff's Office maintains the roster as a transparency tool. It is updated as bookings and releases are processed and is hosted through the sheriff's office.

Find Atascosa Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created each time an individual is processed into the Atascosa County Jail. During booking, jail staff generate a record that typically includes:

  • Booking number
  • Date and time of booking
  • Charges filed at the time of arrest
  • Arresting agency (e.g., Atascosa County Sheriff's Office, a local police department, or Texas DPS)
  • Basic identifying information such as name, date of birth, and physical description

To access booking records online in Atascosa County, start with the jail roster on the sheriff's office website or search through AtascosaCourt.us. If you need records beyond what the roster displays — such as older bookings or detailed arrest reports — you may need to submit a public records request directly to the sheriff's office.

For criminal case records tied to a booking, the Atascosa County District Clerk maintains court case files, including criminal, civil, and probate records. You can search case information for free on their site, though purchasing document images may require a fee.

If an individual has been transferred to a state facility, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice offender search can help locate them. For statewide criminal history, the Texas DPS Criminal History Name Search is available to the public.

Search the Atascosa Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The Atascosa County jail roster generally supports two search methods:

Search by Last Name

  1. Enter the individual's last name in the search or filter field, if one is available.
  2. Optionally add a first name to narrow results.
  3. If the roster is a scrollable list without a search field, use your browser's find function to locate the name.

Tips for name searches:

  • Use the person's full legal name — nicknames and aliases may not appear.
  • Double-check spelling. A single incorrect letter can cause the search to return no results.
  • If the roster supports partial name matching, try entering just the first few letters of the last name.
  • Hyphenated or compound last names may be listed under either part of the name.

Search by Booking Number

If you have a booking number, enter it directly. This is the fastest way to pull up a specific record, especially when multiple individuals share the same name.

No Results?

If your search returns nothing, consider the following:

  • The person may have already been released or transferred.
  • The booking may not yet be reflected in the system due to processing delays.
  • The name may be spelled differently than expected in official records.
  • Call the jail booking line at (830) 769-3434, ext. #2231, to confirm whether the individual is in custody.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Atascosa

The Atascosa County jail roster is updated as bookings and releases are processed, but there can be a delay between when someone is physically booked into the jail and when their record appears on the roster. This lag can range from minutes to several hours depending on staffing and processing volume.

Key limitations to keep in mind:

  • Current custody only. The roster reflects who is in the jail right now. It is not a searchable archive of all past bookings. Once an individual is released, their record is typically removed.
  • Data entry delays. Weekends, holidays, and high-volume booking periods can slow updates.
  • Limited detail. The public roster may show only basic information — name, charges, and booking date — rather than a complete case history.
  • No juvenile records. Records for individuals under 18 are not displayed on the public roster.
  • Transferred inmates. If someone has been moved to a state prison, they will no longer appear on the county roster. Use the TDCJ offender search instead.

For warrant information, the Atascosa County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 publishes active warrant lists. Outstanding warrants may also be confirmed by contacting the sheriff's office directly.

If you need historical booking data or records that are no longer on the roster, contact the Atascosa County Sheriff's Office to ask about submitting a formal records request under the Texas Public Information Act.
